On today's episode of sharing with you guys stories from my life and comfortably reminding everyone that one way or the other, they're not alone I'd like to talk about two things - the effects of fake news and the pressure on young adults - trust me when I tell you we're all going through this sh*t and I also have friends who are facing heavy pressure from friends and unfortunately parents. However before I delve into these topics I'd share a bit of how my week went.
So I've been unsuccessfully trying to hoe for over two weeks now, my village people are definitely after me
Last Monday I had the privilege of attending a Seminar organised by the Nigerian Army and the Security Affairs in Victoria Island, the food was beautiful people, please lick your screens
Now that I've reminded you that you're probably broke and hungry and can't afford the food you saw in the pictures above (I can't afford it either but hey it's my blog I can say what I want) and as you can see my week was foodful, let me delve into today's topic. I still don't understand why parents feel like because you've graduated from the university you should automatically have life figured out!
Like I just graduated give me a break, kids aren't robots that calculate everything and have everything figured out - it's takes time for young adults to process what they want to do for themselves, try and fail on repeat for a while (you're still failing? Don't feel bad it's totally normal for us), get heartbroken and all that crap. It's not easy meehn.
I don't understand how the girls going through this same issue feel and I'm not going to act like I do (meehn if I should try it my head will just explode and implode at the same time if that makes any sense), what I do understand is the dude version.
Guys, we don't want to keep asking our fathers for money at some point it in our lives, we find it really uncomfortable to ask for even the most irrelevant stuff that shouldn't matter! Why? I don't know I'm not all powerful and all knowing. We mentally give ourselves deadline to leave our fathers house (mines 25 by the way), we stop sharing information because we feel we can handle them ourselves (sometimes we can, other times we can't) and all and all

This pressure has pushed a lot of young dudes into crime because they want to club, ride a Benz, have the most beautiful girlfriends but then who doesn't want all of these things?
If you're still reading this because you're hoping I'm going to give some advice that will automatically make you feel better, bro you're going to be disappointed, nothing I say or narrate will make you feel better about yourself and what you're going through. However one thing I can tell you going through pressure from all angles is that you're not alone. We're in this together. So you know that feeling you get when you fail and class test or exam and you find out everyone else did, thus you feel good about yourself? Well you should probably do that now.

Also, the theme of the seminar the Army organized was The Role of Social Media in Civil-Military Relations as a Non-kinetic Tool for Enhanced Peace and Security in Nigeria and in it emphasis was laid on the effects of fake news and how dangerous it can be. The effects of fake news on the peace and security of Nigeria cannot be overemphasized, fake news is a time bomb waiting to explode because misinformation threatens peace, unity and the collective security of the country.
Wole Soyinka said "Fake News may cause WWIII and that fake news might be started by a Nigerian". Nigeria has gotten to a point in its history where there is obvious mistrust and the security situation is undeniably tense which is why everyone needs to be careful what their actions is on social media. Social media rewards vitality, we are in a stage where misinformation rules. Freedom of information is not a license to be irresponsible, the right information and communication can deescalate tensions while the wrong informations can lead to massacre or outbreak of war.
How do they handle it?
Do you confirm a news or information before rebroadcasting?
What do you think about this kind of pressure?
Do you have anything to say to people going through it?

This is insightful.
ReplyDeleteThank you for making us hungry, and thank you for bringing this up. I do have friends going through this and I try as much as possible to let them know that they aren't alone in their quest to find life the way their parents or peers want them to. It's not easy being a man, with all these pressure, it can lead one to doing the unthinkable.
This is nice
ReplyDeleteThe pressureeee. As a lady, I can tell you its only home training that's saving me😂if not....
